Hemophilia and Thrombosis Center
DHMC is a federally funded center that provides comprehensive care to pediatric patients with bleeding or clotting disorders. We have pediatric hematologists, nurses, physical therapists, and orthopedists who are specifically trained in managing the needs of a patient with bleeding disorders. The blood bank is also specifically prepared to manage a patient with a bleeding disorder. If a patient needs surgery, we coordinate care with the surgeons, hematologists and the blood bank.
Long-term Follow-up Clinic
This clinic is specifically for patients through all stages of adulthood who have survived a childhood cancer. Patients who have had cancer therapy need specialized follow-up for management of, and education about, potential long-term side effects from therapy.
Pediatric Neuro-Oncology Clinic
This multi-specialty clinic is staffed by physicians from Pediatric Oncology, Neurology and Neurosurgery. To better coordinate complex medical care, patients are seen in clinic by the team of physicians.
Home health care
To try to maintain as normal a life as possible for patients and their families, we often enlist the help of local home health agencies to provide some care within the home.
The CHaD PainFree Program
This program provides appropriate anesthesia or sedation for children undergoing studies or procedures that could be potentially uncomfortable. Our goal is to minimize a child’s discomfort when possible.
Research
DHMC is a member and participant of the Children's Oncology Group, a nationwide cooperative organization consisting of nearly 250 institutions dedicated to clinical research and the care of children with malignant disease. Our membership in this organization allows patients to participate in the newest clinical trials available across the country while staying at Dartmouth for treatment.
