About General Pediatrics (Lebanon)
Your child's care team includes:
- One or more experienced staff pediatricians as team leaders. These doctors are also members of the Dartmouth Medical School faculty. Pediatricians have completed three or more years after medical school as pediatric residents.
- Several pediatric resident physicians, who are doctors pursuing advanced training in the specialty of pediatrics. As residents, they learn about child and adolescent health care and the diagnosis and treatment of children's diseases. They care for children under the supervision of a physician.
- Pediatric nurse practitioners and physician assistants with advanced training in routine well-child care, common illnesses, and management of stable chronic illnesses. They care for children under the supervision of a medical doctor, and are instructors at Dartmouth Medical School.
Our providers perform health exams to make sure that your child is growing well. They provide preventive care such as immunizations and vision and hearing screenings. They also care for children who have a wide array of health problems, behavioral issues, or developmental needs.
We use a team model for better care
Our providers consult with one another about your child's care. We feel that the team model is an advantage because your child gets the benefit of several providers, each of whom brings special skills to your child's care.
Using a team model allows better access for families, because residents often are available immediately and can spend more time with you and your child. Resident physicians discuss your child's case with a staff pediatrician. Our nurse practitioners and physician assistants also provide primary care for your child if you choose, or may provide care jointly with staff pediatricians or residents.
All of our patients have access to our entire team of healthcare providers. Your child will always receive the highest level of attention and quality clinical care, no matter which provider you may see in the office.
